St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church - 24 Clairmont St., Thorold, Ontario, Canada

Education

At the present time, Christian Education at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church is expressed through the worship service and its various components, including the sermon and the reading of scripture, but also through special classes or study groups.

The sermon is an endeavour to proclaim the Word of God in conformity with the testimony of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to the revelation of God in Jesus Christ. Preaching is an expression of a calling by God as Minister of Word and Sacrament, through the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit, such that people of the Church may continue to be nourished and nurtured by the gospel in the context of their lives. Printed forms of sermons given by Douglas Robinson may be found on this web site.

St. Andrew's has an active Christian Education programme for children, using a "Workshop Rotation Model", with particular assistance from material developed by the Christian Education team at St. Paul's, Ingersoll, Ontario. The director of our Sunday School, Mary Ann Schellenberg, is assisted by the Christian Education Committee of the Session, Sunday School teachers and helpers, and Nursery Providers, to make learning about the gospel a lively and meaningful endeavour for children.

A Kerygma study on Amos and Hosea met Wednesday evenings, 7:00-9:00 p.m., May 23-July 18, 2007. New participants are welcome. A study on Paul's second letter to the Corinthinas, using Paul for Everyone: 2 Corinthians by N.T. Wright as a basic resource, will begin Thursday Oct. 11, and will run through October and November. New participants are welcome.
